Student Outcome B

(B) An ability to analyze a problem, and identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solution;

Level 5
The student:
  1. fully decomposes a problem into a set of manageable parts.
  2. demonstrates an understanding of a given problem by identifying its constraints and goals.
  3. is able to identify reasonable alternative computing solutions to a particular part of a problem.
  4. is able to define a set of computing resources that represents a very efficient solution to a given problem.

Level 3
The student:
  1. tends to identify the most important parts of a given problem.
  2. can identify the goals of a particular problem but has some difficulty identifying the primary constraints of the problem.
  3. is able to identify alternative computing solutions to a particular problem but tends to include some solutions that are not appropriate.
  4. defines a set of computing resources that represents a reasonable solution to a given problem.

Level 1
The student:
  1. has difficulty in breaking a problem into manageable parts.
  2. has difficulty identifying the goal or constraints of a problem.
  3. struggles to identify potential solutions to a problem.
  4. tends to identify a set of computing resources that represents an impossible or inefficient alternative to solving a problem.
