Developing analytical reading
assessment procedures for the Biology Department.
Developed statistics web pages for
the Biology Department.
Teaching/developing a new
introductory biology course for non-majors BIOL 111/112: "Contemporary
Issues in Biology." This
involves new approaches to teaching biology, historical development of
scientific knowledge, science and society, discovery learning, group
investigation, analytical reading, critical thinking, and development of
communication skills.
Proposed and managed the Undergraduate Research
Awards for students in introductory biology courses.
Helped organize the Peace Studies
minor program. Attended and gave
guest lectures in the PWSS 200 Peace and World Security Studies course for
three years.
Proposed and managed the Biology Department's Four
Year Freshman/Transfer Scholarship awards.
With colleagues in Anthropology and English planned
and taught an experimental 10 credit hour interdisciplinary course to meet
General Education requirements in science, social science, and English.
