Teaching with Technology
The efforts to support technology for teaching extend from providing classrooms with the appropriate media to improving the effectiveness of teaching and learning with the various tools available. In the 1993-94 academic year a major iniative was undertaken to provide both classroom support and preparation equipment for faculty. This iniative was funded by $150,000 in Equipment Trust Funds from the State Council of Higher Education in Virginia, and was carefully designed to be free from departmental constraints. A Technology Advisory Council was formed to advise on the equipment purchases and locations. This council continues to advise on faculty development concerning technology and upgrades and policies concerning the equipment purchased. The iniative resulted in two major programs:
- Mobile multimedia carts
located in 5 major classroom buildings and available by on-
line reservation.

- Preparation Laboratory in the Teaching Resources Center in Walker Hall
- CD-ROM recorder in the Center for Music Technology
