



Equipment Trust Fund Purchases
Five classroom building
locations

have been equipped with mobile carts containing multimedia technology:
- S-VHS (Panasonic AG1970)
- Laser Disk Player (Pioneer LD-V4400)
- digital/video projection unit (Eiki)
- a computer which is equipped to connect to the campus
network and is one of the following types:
- penitium based Gateway-2000,
400 MB HD, CD-ROM,
8MB RAM and 14" color monitor.
- Macintosh PowerPC
6100/60AV with
sound, CD-ROM, 250 MB HD, 40 MB RAM and 14" color monitor.
NOTE: The young man in the photo of the multimedia cart is

Marinoff, a
Student Assistant in the Center for Teaching Excellence office.
The list of items collected for preparation of teaching materials are
located in the
Teaching Resources
Center in Walker:
1 Sun work station
2 multi-media PC's (pentium-based Gateway 2000)
1 PowerPC Macintosh 8100/80AV
2 PowerPC Macintosh 6100/60AV
4 GB storage disk
1 optical storage unit
1 slide scanner
1 laser disk player
1 Post Script printer (black & white)
1 color printer
1 digital slide recorder
1 projection unit
Five color scanners have been located in public lab
sites

on campus.
A CD-ROM writer is located in the Center for Music Technology.
The
Technology Advisory Council
(or choose the TABLE view
if you
have Netscape 1.1*)
designed a plan for faculty
supervision of the multimedia carts. Essential elements of the plan were
- the mobile carts serve an entire building, thus requiring some
inter-departmental cooperation
- a network of support be provided
for training and use of the equipment on the cart
The title of
Multimedia Technology Specialist (MTS)
(or choose the TABLE view
if you
have Netscape 1.1*) has
been given to these faculty. Each of them has a computer identical to
the corresponding cart computer, with the understanding that a swap will
be made if, in an emergency, the cart computer is in repair.
