Application Instructions

Thank you for your interest in Radford University's Dietetic Internship Program.  Below you will find the necessary information and application materials on how to apply to the program along with a checklist to help you complete the application process.  Please carefully follow all the directions and provide the specified application materials.  Incomplete applications will be deferred to the next application year.
Steps in the application process:
1. Obtain the computer matching instructions and mark/sense card from your Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) Coordinator or from D & D Digital Systems.  This request should be made to allow turn around time for submitting your application by the February 13, 2004 postmark deadline.  There is no charge for this material.  However there is a charge for computer matching that is due with your prioritized ranking.

email:  dnd@netins.net

2. Obtain from your DPD Coordinator, an original copy of the "Verification of Completion of Didactic Program in Dietetics" (DPD academic requirements).  This form comes from the Dietetic Program Representative where you completed undergraduate dietetic education requirements.

If you are a graduating Senior for the present academic year you will need to obtain a "Declaration of Intent to Complete Degree and/or CADE Approved Minimum Academic Requirements" from your DPD Coordinator.

3. Recency of Education Requirements:  Additional courses in dietetics or a related area are required to update a degree which was completed five (5) or more years prior to the February 13, 2004 application postmark deadline.

4. Arrange for transcripts from each college or university attended to be mailed from the Registrar's Office to you for inclusion in the Dietetic Internship application packet.  These should be requested early, so that they are received before the due date.

5. Select three (3) persons who will complete a Recommendation Form with cover memo, available for download from hyperlink.  We suggest you provide two (2) recommendations from faculty and one (1) from an employer.  Those persons should provide details about your strengths, your ability to complete this post-baccalaureate dietetic internship and any areas they feel you may need improvement.

Complete the blank on each cover memo and sign and date each Recommendation Form in the appropriate places.  Include an envelop with the Dietetic Internship Program Coordinator's address and instruct the person completing the recommendation to place the completed form in the envelop, sign on the back seal after sealing, and return to you for inclusion with your application packet materials.

6. Submit an original "Letter of Intent", no more than 2 pages which states the reasons for your interest in becoming a registered dietitian, the reasons you are applying to Radford University's Dietetic Internship Program, what you expect to learn or gain from a dietetic internship, and your career/professional goals for the next five (5) years.

7. Complete an application to the Radford Dietetic Internship Program.  The Dietetic Application and Recommendation Form may be downloaded in either a Word or PDF format.  This form must be typed, or word-processed.  Please include an email address.

8. Place all application materials into a pocket folder and  label it with your name on the outside of the folder.

Mail all required information for the Dietetic Internship application in one envelop postmarked on or before February 13, 2004 to:
