Our Founders: The women behind Phi Sigma Sigma |
National and Local Symbols |
Phi Sigma Sigma was founded at Hunters College in New York, New
York on November 26, 1913. Our Founders aimed
to establish a sorority in which a membership was not based on one's social
status, religious affiliation, or personal background. Open membership
to all women of character regardless of their background. On November 26,
1913 the first nonsectarian sorority was born. Collegiate and Alumnae
members around the world to this day live by our Founder's inspiration and
Phi Sigma Sigma's Core Values: lifelong learning, inclusiveness, and
leadership through service. |
