Denise C. Dabney, DMA
Denise
C. Dabney, a native of New York, is an experienced musician,
educator, and arts administrator. She is active as both a classical
and jazz saxophonist and has performed in the United States
and abroad. As a teacher and administrator, she has worked with
the Michigan Youth Organization, the University of Michigan
All-State Program, the Interlochen Arts Camp, and the Prince
George's Arts Council. Denise performed with the professional
chamber ensemble, "Resounding Winds," prize winners
in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.
Dr.
Dabney holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The University
of Michigan, where she combined studies in Saxophone Performance
and Arts Administration. She has received grants from the U.S.
Department of Education and the National Endowment for the Arts
and her publications include "Voicing: An Approach to the
Saxophone's Third Register," "ATLAS: An Arts-Integrated
Model for Educational Reform," and "A Multicultural
Approach to the Denisov Sonata: Diverse Analytical Insights."
