Students
elect a balance of courses in both music and business as well
as actual Music business courses which address issues relating
to the unique needs of the arts & entertainment industries.
In addition to General Education courses required by the university,
the Music Business curriculum consists of 62 credit hours in
Music, 21 in Business, and 26 in Music
Business related courses which includes a 10 hour cognate in
Music technology, Media Studies, Media Arts Technology, or Business
Communications.

The Arts, Entertainment, & the Marketplace
This introductory course offers an overview of the many diverse
fields and career opportunities within the Arts & Entertainment
industries, with an emphasis on music business related fields.
Includes a survey of career options, and a study of relevant
publications and industry resources related to arts and entertainment
media, retail, management, marketing, and promotion.
Marketing the Arts
An intensive study of marketing and promotion as applied to
the various arts disciplines. Areas addressed include market
research, segmentation of populations, target audiences, development
of promotional materials, and planning and implementation of
marketing plans.
Arts
& Entertainment Industry Management
An intensive study of legal and business issues in the Arts
& Entertainment industries and the role of the manager in
these affairs. Topics covered include product and retail management;
merchandising; sales and distribution; artist management; and
arts administration.
Topics in the Arts & Entertainment
Business
This variable topic course includes a study of major topics
and issues in the Arts and Entertainment Fields. The class content
will draw from important and relevant industry issues, current
events, and individual student interests and projects.
